Betty Goodwin was a well-known artist to the Montreal scene. Using a variety of mediums and technique such as drawing, sculpture, and printmaking Goodwin created works which spoke to the fragility of life and her experiences in an uncertain time. She was largely self-taught and made work which was intuitive for her, often using found materials or whatever was readily available at hand to make her work. The body is a common icon through her work, and to her the body can hold memory and experience the same way a brain can and she made countless images about the bodily experience.
